Title: Bell Work

1
Bell Work
  • In your group, discuss what is parallel plane?
  • What is parallel plane?
  • Look at the picture given, please give at least 4
answers for each (one person has to at least
    write one of the answers)
  • Which lines are parallel?
  • Which planes are parallel?

2
Bell Work
  • Each one of you will have a blank computer paper
  • On the computer paper, you need to draw something
(use your imagination) using ONLY straight lines.
Here are some things you can draw
  • A house
  • A robot
  • House design
  • Buildings
  • Flowers
  • Trees
  • bridge
  • Etc. (I want you guys to think of something
    creative!)
  • The computer paper should be about 60 full with
at least 2 different things on there. (There
should not be a lot of white space)
  • When you are done drawing you need to measure the
length of the lines you drew and put the length
(in cm) next to the line
  • Also you need to use the protractor to measure
    the angles of each intersections.

3
Bell Work
  • In your group, solve the following problems. The
color indicate the person thatll write the
    answer to the question.
  • (4 Questions about line segments One with
midpoint easy, one with entire length easy,
one with entire length with variable, one with
midpoint with markings to represent congruent
    parts)

4
Chapter 1.5 Measuring Segments
  • 4.0 Students prove basic theorems involving
    congruence

5
Vocabulary
  • Coordinate its distance and direction from the
origin of a number line. The coordinates of a
point on a coordinate plane are in the form
(x,y), where x is the x-coordinate and y is the
    y-coordinate

6
Vocabulary
  • Congruent segments segments that have the same
    length
  • Symbol

Question Which segments are congruent?
Note Difference between EQUAL and CONGRUENT
7
Vocabulary
  • Midpoint a point that divides the segment into
two congruent segments. A midpoint, or any line,
ray, or other segment through a midpoint is said
    to bisect the segment

M is the midpoint
8
Activity (interwrite)
Are and congruent?
9
Segment Addition Postulate
  • If three points A, B and C are collinear and B is
between A and C, then ABBCAC

10
Example 1
  • If AC60, find the value of x. Then find AB and
    BC

A
B
C
2x-8
3x-12
11
Example 2
  • If AC100, find the value of x. Then find AB and
    BC

A
B
C
4x-20
2x30
12
Example 3
  • B is the midpoint of AC. Find AB and BC

B
A
C
2x-1
3x-4
13
Fact about congruent
  • When you have two segment/angles/etc that are
congruent, you can set them equal to each other.

14
Activity (5 min)
  • Write the summary about this section in your
    Cornell note.
  • Some questions to consider
  • What is the topic about?
  • What did I learn from this lesson?
  • What questions do I have?

15
Homework
  • P 33 1-4, 8, 10-12, 13, 14
