  • O Alláh! I cannot find anyone who can forgive my

  • (Allâhomma lâ ajido li-thonûbî ghâfiran wa lâ
    li -qabâihî sâtiran)

  • or change my misdeeds to good,
  • except You.
  • (wa lâ li-shayin min amalî- l- qabîhi bi- l-
    hasani mobaddilan ghayraka)

  • There is no god but You.
  • Glory and praise be to You.
  • (lâ ilâha illâ anta subhânaka wa bi-hamdika)

  • I have wronged myself,
  • I dared (to sin) because of my ignorance,

  • but I have depended on Your eternal remembrance
    of me, and Your (continuous) grace on me.

    alayya)

    You have concealed!

  • How many heavy misfortunes You have lifted!

  • my deeds are inadequate,
  • my chains have kept me down,

  • and, my desires have withheld me from my (own
    advantages).

  • The world has deceived me by its illusion,

  • not to disgrace me by exposing what is secret of
    my (acts), which (only) You are aware of,
  • (wa lâ tafdhahanî bi-khafiyyi ma-t-talata
    alayhi min sirrî)

  • not to hasten the punishment of what I have done

  • (wa lâ toâjilnî bi-l-oqûbati alâ mâ amiltoho
    fî khalawâtî)

  • such as, my ugly deeds, my offences,
  • (min sûi filî wa isâatî)

  • O Alláh! By Your might, Be compassionate to me in

  • (wa kon-allâhomma bi-izzatatika lî fî-l-ahwâli
    kollihâ raûfan)

  • and have grace on me on all matters.

  • You have laid on me rules (to follow), but I
    followed my own whims.

  • I did not remain wary of adorning my enemy.
  • (wa lam ahtaris fîhi min tazyîni adowwî)

  • Therefore, he was (able to) deceive me through my
    desires,
  • (fa-gharranî bi-mâ ahwâ)

  • and destiny favored him in this (matter).
  • (wa asadaho alâ thâlik-al-qadhâo)

  • Thus I exceeded Your limits by violation of Your
    rules,
  • (fa-tajâwazto bi-mâ jarâ alayya min thâlika
    badha hodûdika)

  • and disobeyed some of Your commands.
  • ( wa khâlafto badha awâmirika)

  • Therefore, Yours is the argument against me in
    all of that,
  • (falaka-l-hamdo alayya fî jamîi thâlika)

  • and I have no argument (regarding) Your judgment
    against me,
  • (wa lâ hojjata lî fî mâ jarâ alayya fîhi
    qadhâoka)

  • nor in what Your decree and tribulation imposed
    upon me.
  • (wa alzamanî hokmoka wa balâok-a)

  • I come to You, My God, after my shortcoming,

  • and my immoderation against myself,

  • nor any place of refuge to turn to about my
    affairs,

  • other than Your acceptance of my apology,

  • and Your entering me into the range of Your
    mercy.

  • O Alláh! Therefore, accept my apology,
  • (Allâhomma f-aqbal othrî)

  • have mercy upon the severity of my affliction,
  • (wa-rham shiddata dhorrî)
