Patients suffering from Down syndrome have a mild to moderately low IQ and are also slower to speak during childhood than other children. Some common features of Down syndrome include a short neck, a flattened face, small ears, almond-shaped eyes, small hands and feet, and poor muscle tone (loose joints).
