- The Adventures of Hocus and Lotus were created
within the framework of a series of European
Socrates-Lingua projects, co-financed for nearly
a decade between 1992 and 2001 with the aim of
developing and testing new teaching ideas,
teacher training models and materials directed
specifically at the teaching of foreign languages
to very small children, aged between three and
eight years old. The languages that the dinocrocs
teach are English, German, Italian, French,
Portuguese, Spanish, Danish, and Dutch. - The project was launched by the University of
Rome "La Sapienza" (Prof. Traute Taeschner), the
proposal being to develop teaching materials for
a teaching model referred to as the "narrative
format approach" that has as its theoretical
background the processes of language acquisition,
concepts of the narrative mind and the principles
of bilingualism (Taeschner, 1983, 1991). - - We saw the project results at the DissMark
Conference in Iasi, Romania 2006.
