Basic Idea of the HEXE Project

The HEXE project aims at strengthening the
Euro-Mediterranean Center for Climate Change
(CMCC) structure by supporting the long lasting
fulfilment of its mission.
Three the main objectives
to enhance CMCC research potential,
to better integrate its activities and
to make its research work accessible to policy
makers

Coupling CMCC models the economic (WITCH, ICES
CIP FEEM) with climatic and environmental ones
(e.g. Global Circulation Model(s), CLUE Land Use
Model etc. )
Divisions CIP, IAFENT, ANS, SCO
Implementing an advanced Decision Support System
(DSS) for policy makers to access results and
open the modelling black box.

function of output abatement expenditure
constraint on concentration).
First order conditions derived wrt time
Optimal growth path for investment and emissions
Embedding these equations inside the GCM
WITCH can then be used to estimate a realistic
abatement function
