4Legal background
- The government decree 264/2004 is the
transposition of the WEEE directive, which came
into effect on 8 October 2004. The aim is to
reach 4kg/capital in 2008. - Producers may perform their obligations (take
back, collection, recycling and safe-disposal)
either - on their own or
- trhough joining to a compliance scheme or
- by way of transferring their obligations to
recyclers. - A compliance scheme can be registered with the
Environmental Protection Authority if it - is classified as having non-profit legal status
under the terms of the separate legal regulation
on non-profit organisations - allows anyone to use its services if the
conditions specified in its founding statutes or
deed of foundation are fulfilled - has registered capital in the amount required
for its primary activity, and not less than 75
