1
Science of Hadith-4
2
The Five Conditions of a Hadith Saheeh
  • 1- That its isnaad is connected. That every one
of its narrators heard it directly from his
sheikh/teacher , from the beginning of the sanad
    till the end. (?????? ?????)
  • 2- Al-adaalah that all of its narrators are
trustworthy. They are Muslims, of age they
reached sinn Albolough- ,sane, they are not open
sinners and not having bad manners and habits. (
    (???????

3
The Five conditions of a Hadith Saheeh- continued
  • 3- All of its narrators a precise in their
memorization- Daabit. This quality of hifz comes
    into two types
  • - precision in memory that every narrator has to
memorize it correctly and transmit it as he heard
    it.
  • - precision in his written work that he
correctly writes it down, takes care of it and
make sure that it is passed on correctly.
  • 4- Free from Shuthooth That is not Shaath.
Shuthooth happens when a reliable narrator
narrates something different from what another
more reliable narrator or a group of narrators
    have narrated.

4
The Five Conditions of a Hadith Saheeh-continued
  • 5- Free from the hidden defect It does not
contain the Illah (which affects the
authenticity of the hadeeth), while the isnaad
appears to be free from it.
  • The Most Authentic Isnaads
  • 1- In Al-Bukharees view , the most authentic
isnaad is Malik from Naafie from Abdullah ibn
    Omar (???? ?? ???? ?? ??? ??? ? ??? ???? ?????
    ?????
  • This isnaad is called the chain of gold.

5
The Most Authentic Isnaads-continued
  • In the view of Ishaaq ibn Rahawaih and Ahmed, the
most authentic is Azuhri from Saalim from
    Abdullah ibn Omar.
  • In the view of Ibn Maeen, it is Al-Amash from
Ibraheem An-Nakhaee from Alqamah from Abdullah
ibn Masood. (May Allah be pleased with him).

6
The First Books of Sahih.
  • Saheel Albukharee was the first book dedicated
for the collection of Al-Hadith Assahih. It was
written by Abee Abdillah Mohamed ibn Ismaeel
Albukharee who was born in 194 H. He passed away
in 256 H in a village beside the city of Bukhara
    in Uzbekistan nowadays.
  • The second book was written by Albukharees
    student , Al-Imam Abu Al-Hussein Muslim ibn
Alhajjaj who was born in 204 H. He passed away in
261 H. May Allah have Mercy on all of them.

7
Books of Sahih-Continued
  • There are some other scholars who tried to
collect only hadiths that have the conditions of
    Al-hadith As-Saheeh. For example
  • 1- Mohamed ibn Ishaaq ibn khuzaima (p.311 H) .
His book is called Sahih ibn khuzaima
  • 2- Mohamed ibn Hibaan al-busti (p.354 H). His is
    called Sahih ibn Hibaan.
  • 3-Mohamed ibn Abdi-Allah Al-Hakim (p.405 H). His
    book is called Al-Mustadrek.

8
Comparison between Sahih Albukharee and Sahih
Muslim.
  • The majority of the scholars prefer Sahih
Albukharee over Sahih Muslim, for the following
    reasons
  • 1- The conditions of Al-isnaad Al-moanan of
Al-Imam Al-Bukharee are better than those of
Al-Imam Muslim. The chain of narrators that has
the word from which means ((?? is called Isnaad
Moanan. Albukharee has an extra condition. He
does not include a hadith sahih in his book until
he is sure that the narrators have met with each
other (they lived in the same era and have met
with each other), while it is enough for Imam
Muslim that they are trustworthy and reliable
narrators and have lived in the same era. (same
    period of time).

9
Comparison -continued
  • 2-Scholars of Hadith, after they studied the book
of Al-Bukharee have criticized his book for only
78 hadiths, but when they studied the book of
Al-Imam Muslim, they criticized him for 100
hadiths. Al-bukharee was also criticized for
using the hadiths of around 80 narrators, but
Imam Muslim was criticized for using the
    narrations of around 160 narrators.

10
Levels of Authenticity
  • 1- The hadith that was agreed upon between
    Al-Bukharee and Imam Muslim.
  • 2- The one that was collected only by Imam
    Al-Bukharee.
  • 3- The one that was collected by Imam Muslim
  • 4 The one that meets the conditions of
Al-bukharee and Muslim but was not reported by
    them.
  • 5- The one that meets the conditions of
Al-bukharee but was not reported by him
  • 6- The one that meets the conditions of Imam
Muslim , but was not reported by him
  • 7- The one that was authenticated by others, but
did not meet the conditions of neither Imam
    Albukaree nor Imam Muslim.
