Multipoint Conferences
The system has a built-in multipoint conference
unit (MCU), MultiSite, which has the capability
to establish meetings with up to 4 sites. The
MultiSite supports both Voice Switched and
Continuous Presence mode. The sites in a
conference must be connected using the same
bandwidth.
Establishing a conference is done by first making
a call to one site. When a call is established
with the first site, the other sites are
connected one by one. It is possible to either
dial out to the sites or the sites can dial in to
the MultiSite.
3-7
10Placing a Multipoint Call
Using the Dial Out Method First establish a
normal point-to-point call. It is recommended to
plan the channel usage before making the first
call so that you do not run out of
bandwidth. Example If the system has 8 channels
available and you want to connect 3 sites in
addition to the host, 2 channels should be
selected for the first call. The system will then
automatically use 2 channels when connecting the
other sites. When the first site is connected,
add a site to the conference by following the
procedure 1. Press CONNECT to bring up the
following menu 2. Press the GREEN Quick Key
to bring up the MultiSite dial menu. 3.
Enter the number to call. The Quality will be the
same as used by the first call. 4. Press
CONNECT. Add Site Add Duo Video Back
Using the Dial In Method To dial in to the
MultiSite, you must know the numbers to each of
ISDN BRIs Site 1 must dial Lint Number 1. Site 2
must dial Line Number 2. Site 3 must dial Line
Number 3. OR If using an ISDN PRI, the far sites
dial the normal ISDN-PRI number of the system.
All sites must dial the same number. To find the
ISDN line numbers, press the Menu button and go
to Diagnostics and View Current Settings When
the MultiSite receives an incoming call, the
following menu is displayed Use the Quick Keys
to enter the appropriate response, OR Pressing
CONNECT will be equivalent to pressing
Accept Pressing DISCONNECT will be equivalent to
pressing Reject Pressing Do Not Disturb will
disable the MultiSite from answering more
incoming calls during the current conference. The
calling party will receive a busy signal.

MCU Services
A Multipoint Control Unit (MCU) enables several
sites to participate in the same conference. An
MCU conference can have different modes Voice
Switched means that the image of the person
currently speaking will be broadcast to all the
other conference participants. This will remain
the case until another participant starts to
speak. Continuous Presence shows several
participants on the same screen at the same
time. Request floor When requesting
the floor, the MCU will broadcast your video in
full screen to all other participants in the
conference. If the MCU conference has a chairman,
a floor request is sent to the chairman. You will
remain On Air until either you select Release
Floor or the chairman decides to release the
floor to another participant. Release floor You
choose Release Floor to take you Off Air. You
should do this when you wish to make the
flooravailable to the other participants in the
conference. Terminal Names Allows you to see the
site numbers or name (if supported) of other
sites connected in the conference. View site
Allows you to view any participant in the
conference other than the participant currently
On Air. End view Allows you to stop viewing
the site previously chosen with View Site , and
returns your view to the site that is currently
On Air.
To get to the MCU Services Menu, Press the Menu
button on the remote control and select MCU
Services from the list of choices.

12Chair Control
Chairman Control functionality enables one
participant to control the meeting by selecting
which of the conference participants is to be
broadcast to the other participants. This option
is not supported in a Tandberg MultiSite Meeting
It is available only when connected to and
external MCU that supports Chair Control (H.243).
Chair control You select Chair Control and Take
Chair to assume the role of chairman of the
meeting. Chair Control provides considerable
conference management functions. As chairman, you
may control which site you and the other sites
see. Take chair Allows you to request
chairmanship of the conference. If no one else is
currently chairman the MCU will give you the
chair. Release chair Allows you to relinquish
the privileges of chairmanship of the
conference. Floor to site Allows the chairman
