AMS Tracker Thermal Control System
(TTCS) Electronics Johannes van Es, Carlo Rens,
Jacob Jaarsma, Aswin Pauw, Gerrit van Donk, Ad
Delil (NLR), Bart Verlaat (NIKHEF)
2Objectives
- AMS Tracker Objectives
- Keep silicon wafers within thermal requirements
with a temperature stability of 3 ºC per orbit. - Keep hybrid circuits within thermal requirements.
- NLR Experiment Objective
- Perform two-phase flow experiments when no AMS
experiments are done.
3TTCS Overview
- Two redundant carbon dioxide two-phase loops
(both capable to fulfil the AMS-Tracker req's) - Primary loop (with valve controls, experiment
by-pass, LFMs) - Secondary loop (current status, no valves, no
experiment by-pass, no LFMs)

- experiment heaters control
- valve control
- Low level simple control available for peltiers
and pre-heaters on sensor actuator board

11Conclusion
- Loop lay-out is frozen (number of valves etc.).
- Components selection and freezing of electronics
interfaces (80 finished). - Redundancy concept per component is selected
(including mapping to hot/cold USCM's and/or
actuator boards) (75 finished). - Currently detailed design activities are in
progress.
