- Goals
- Establish the rates of growth and reproduction of
the dominant copepods and euphausiids encountered
on each LTOP cruise. - Use these rates in conjunction with abundance and
biomass data on LTOP cruises to determine the
accompanying rates of secondary production,
including their cross-shelf, seasonal, and
inter-annual patterns. - Establish the relationships to the underlying
factors modulating these rates (i.e. temperature
and food) - Approach overview
- Experiments for copepods have been concentrated
at Stations Gak1, 4, 9, 13 and PWS2 or KIP2
(Figure 1). Euphausiid experiments have occurred
at stations where abundances were high. In the
case of the copepods Neocalanus flemingeri and
Centropages abdominalis, plus the euphausiids
Thysanoessa inermis and Euphausia pacifica,
growth and development rates have also been
determined in the laboratory. - Dataset
