Human blood contains many chemical substances, primarily platelets, red blood cells, white blood cells and plasma. Platelet-rich plasma, also called PRP, is the part of the blood sample that includes mostly platelets and pure plasma, leaving out both the red and white blood cells. Platelet-poor plasma (PPP), as the name indicates, is similar to PRP in one way: it contains plasma. However, PPP contains almost no platelets.
