Guidelines
- Be prepared. Knowing what you want to say helps
it run smoothly. - Try to memorize pointsdont read. 3X5 cards with
bullets can help. - Practice on a family member or friend.
- Bring the book if you have it. It gives a visual
for the audienceand gives nervous speakers
something to do with their hands.

DO
- Mention the title and author of the chosen book.
- Give a brief plot synopsis.
- Discuss major literary elements of the book
(consult the list from the first week). - Discuss target audience.
- Give recommendation.

DONT
- Take more than two to three minutes.
- Be nervous. Your grade is based on content, not
performance. - Worry. The point is for fellow students to hear
about other books (and for me to assess your
understanding). - Barf. It makes the whole class smell bad.
