General
  • Cornell branding templates being delivered this
    Friday
  • Cornell branding only applicable to top 45 pixels
  • Rest of page recommended to follow templates,
    using creative license
  • Specialized site search must be below the 45
    pixels
  • CSS and images for central branding will be
    stored locally
  • Site should try to be 508 compliant where
    possible
  • Error handler will follow Cornell.edu branding
  • Issue - HTML page will be created by CIT?

Content Grouping
  • Content will be grouped into directories
  • Directory for each main area (e.g. gradstudent)
  • 10-12 subdirectories under each main level (e.g.
    admissions)
  • Issue additional subdirectories for content by
    role?

Navigation
  • Tabs will be Topics and Audiences
  • Home page default will be Topics
  • Taxonomy facets for organization will be
    intersection of topic x intersection
  • Not all values will be valid for organization
  • But, content will still be returned through
    search

Choice Pages
  • Second Level Navigation will be boxed
  • Shows each second level in taxonomy
  • 5? Links in each box
  • Administration interface will be created to
    manage which links will appear
  • Either choice pages or answer pages could appear
  • Issue can answer pages be at this level?

  • All content will use predefined templates
  • All content in Phase 1 will have public
    security
  • If content is role-based, a separate page will be
    written for each role
  • Secondary home pages will be content pages
  • Linked content should not be put into taxonomy so
    that home page will be the only page showing up
  • Example Enrollment report page will be in
    taxonomy, but the 1999 Excel page will not as it
    should only be visible through the link page
  • Search will index page data (title, keywords,
    description, etc)
  • Changing keywords/description may affect search
    ranking
  • Related links will be provided through taxonomy
    (left side?)
  • Issue - Floating menu for Answer template for
    scrolling pages?
  • Content Style Guide would be desired

Focus Group Homework
  • 20 pages of content for each area by mid-October
  • Workflow steps for each area by end of September
  • Verify no additional templates required
  • 10-12 subdirectories needed by end of August (2nd
    level navigation)
  • Site map outline needs to have at least two
    levels
