    implementing research-based practices, provide
    research-based technical assistance, and submit
    the plan to the commissioner for approval.
  • The CIT shall continue to work with the campus
    until the campus is rated AA or better for two
    consecutive years or rated AA or better one year
    and the commissioner determines that the campus
    is operating and will continue to operate in a
    manner that improves student achievement.

  • The CIT may continually update the school
    improvement plan, with approval from the
    commissioner, to meet campus needs.
  • If the commissioner determines that a campus is
    not fully implementing the CITs recommendations
    or school improvement plan, the commissioner may
    order the reconstitution of the campus or require
    the acquisition of professional services under
    TEC 39.1331.

  • 2nd Year AU Campuses (TEC 39.1324, p.79)
  • For a campus rated AU for two consecutive school
    years, the commissioner shall order the
    reconstitution of the campus and assign a CIT.
  • In addition to other requirements, the CIT shall
    decide which educators may be retained at the
    campus.
  • Provision for removal of principal added to
    statute, but commissioner may allow principal to
    remain in 2006-2007.
  • Commissioner may appoint a monitor, conservator,
    management team, or board of managers to the
    district to ensure implementation of the school
    improvement plan.
  • Commissioner may require the acquisition of
    professional services under TEC 39.1331.

  • Per HB 1, if a campus is considered AU for the
    subsequent school year after reconstitution, the
    commissioner shall review the progress of the
    campus and may order closure of the campus or
    pursue alternative management.
  • Initial letter to campus requires continued
    involvement of SCIT/CIT in implementing
    improvement and reconstitution plan.
  • A Chapter 39 hearing in front of the commissioner
    or designee will be scheduled during 2006-2007.

Interventions Update PBM
