7Some statistics about teaching
- The average age of a teacher is 44 years (Sept
2004 census). - 16 of teachers are over 55 years
- In Highland Council 50 of the teaching workforce
is due to retire over the next 5 to 10 years. - The last Scottish Executive aimed to have 53,000
teachers by 2007 - Scotland still needs you to teach!
