• e-skills UK have identified that 42,000 million
  people will need to improve their ICT skills over
  the next 3 years in Wales
• The Welsh Assembly Perspective the National
  Skills Agenda
• The Assembly has outlined its commitment to the
  ITQ and Passport as one of the 6 priorities for
  change within the 2006-2009 National Learning and
  Skills Assessment

• Priority Four Working with E-skills, the Welsh
  Assembly Government will seek to re-align the
  funding of IT user provision to the ITQ and those
  qualifications that contribute to the ITQ. The
  Welsh Assembly Government will also seek to
  ensure that all learners are able to complete the
  e-skills passport prior to undertaking an IT user
  qualification

Costs

• Whilst most FE providers are charging around the
  350 - 500, some successfully charge employers
  up to full cost recovery rates. As ever it will
  depend on the employers ability to pay and
  their perception of the value of the training,
  and its benefits to their business.

Step Up project

• Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) grants to
  employers towards the cost of training employees
  who use computers in their work. Includes
• e-skills Passport
• Bespoke IT user training that is funded up to 50
  by WAG.

Step Up project

• To be eligible for Step Up Sector employers must
  either
• Be a company with employees working in Wales
• Be a sole trader with a Welsh address trading in
  Wales
• Be a public sector employer with employees
  working in Wales or
• Be a voluntary organisation with employees
  working in Wales.
