Ice Is Food
  • First and Foremost, Ice is Food.
  • Until now it has been the Forgotten Food.
  • It is produced, transported, handled and
dispensed within a largely unregulated supply
    chain.
  • In many geographies the only regulatory control
over ice is through industry association codes of
practice. This is a code of standards required
for membership of the organisation, not for food
    safety compliance.

3
Ice Is Food
  • A wide range of contaminants can be found in
    drinking water, including protozoal, parasitic,
    bacterial and viral pathogens.
  • Ice made from contaminated water is a major cause
    of illness, particularly among travellers.
  • Government health departments are warning
industry of emerging waterborne infections in
health care settings, and that ice machines have
been implicated in outbreaks of infection and as
    potential reservoirs of infectious agents.

4
Ice Is Food
  • Ice from contaminated ice machines may result in
adverse events for people including, colonization
    of microorganisms, blood stream infections,
    respiratory infections including legionnaires
    disease, gastrointestinal illness, surgical site
    and skin infections
  • Air in refrigerators moves between compartments,
so ice that remains in a freezer in a bin, open
bag, or ice tray has likely absorbed bacteria in
the form of odors and colors from other raw foods
such as raw meats, chicken and seafood, as well
as bacteria that normally exist in everyday life.

5
Island Ice
  • Will change the way we think about ice

6
The Key IngredientsProvenance and Integrity
  • Provenance - Sourced from one of the most
    pristine environments in the world.
  • Integrity - Manufactured by state of the art
technology ensuring the product is the purest ice
    available.

7
The Source - Tasmania
  • Tasmania is Australia's only Island State.
  • It is Australias natural state.
  • Around 40 of the land mass is set aside in the
World Heritage Area, National Parks and in State
    and Coastal Reserves.
  • Tasmania occupies less than 1 of Australia's
land mass and holds 13 of the nations water
    stores.
  • It lies in the path of the Roaring Forties.

8
Roaring forties
  • Roaring Forties is the name given to the trade
winds blowing in a predominantly south westerly
direction between latitudes 40 and 50 south.
  • The winds deliver Pristine Water and Air from the
    Antarctic Region to Tasmania.
  • Water and Air travels an uninterrupted journey of
    16,000 kilometres.
  • Air quality tests on the island reveal air
amongst the cleanest recorded in any populated
    place on earth.
  • Laboratory analysis has established that many of
Tasmanias bottled waters have a mineral content
that is 400 times purer than recommended by the
    World Health Organisation.
