Data Warehouse Stats

• Encompasses multiple departments across the RIC
  Student Services, Testing, Operations, and
  Systems Programming
• Serves 210 entities consisting of public school
  districts, charter schools, parochial buildings,
  Article 81 schools, and state agencies.
• There are over 260,000 students loaded into the
  Data Warehouse each year.

Impact of the Data Warehouse

• Allows for the merging of data sets and data
  sources that are otherwise difficult to combine
  or compare
• Conduct longitudinal analysis of students and
  programs
• Generate ALL testing information from records
  submitted to the Data Warehouse
• District accountability will be determined based
  on Data Warehouse info
• Data collected on a monthly basis

2004-05 A Review

• Public School Districts Charter Schools
  submitted Student Lite data for purpose of NYSSIS
• Grades 3-8 minimum
• Chief Information Officers (CIOs) attended Data
  Warehouse meetings
• NERIC creates Data Warehouse listserv for fast
  communication with customers

2005-06 A Review

• NERIC holds a number of meetings for CIOs
• NERIC introduces Level 0 toolkit to districts
• Districts added Enrollment, Program Services, and
  Assessment information to the Data Warehouse
• NYS OCFS joined the statewide DW
• Last year for STEP software
• Districts begin addressing NYSSIS Near Matches
• nySTART introduced - NERIC provides support

2006-07 A Review

• NERIC holds CIO meetings
• NERIC holds separate meetings specific to Level 0
  training and for NEW CIOs
• Districts submitted Demographic, Enrollment, and
  Program Service data no fewer than 8 times this
  year
• Most districts loaded this data more often
• Assessment data for 06-07 was loaded into the DW,
  including (but not limited to) Regents, RCTs,
  SLPs, and CTE assessments

2006-07 A Review

• NERIC assisted CIOs in reviewing verifying data
  from reports in nySTART such as
• Assessment results
• BEDS enrollment data
• Students with Disabilities
• NERIC merges old STEP records with info from DW
• Ogdensburg Diocese joined the DW
• Creation of NERIC DW website
• NERIC offers Data Readiness Coordinator service

Data Readiness Coordination

• Point person to interact between RIC Data
  Warehouse Staff and district
• Facilitates the flow of data within district
  implements supportive structures/procedures
• Understands verification reports and other
  analyses of data

• Works with District Data Team to manage, maintain
  and provide quality data
• Understands the established standards and
  business rules
• Familiar with districts student management system

• CIO meetings
• Districts begin reporting preK and pre-school
  data
• Districts submitting increasingly detailed
  special ed information into the DW via two new
  templates (Snapshot Events)
• Albany Diocese joined the DW
• NYS Department of Corrections joined the DW
• NERIC develops cheat sheets for common issues
