- A Magnet school is different from private or
parochial schools in that they remain part of the
public school system. - Magnet schools use specialized themes to
significantly enhance student learning. - Hands on activity

4Who may attend the FSD 145 Magnet School?
- All Students who will enter grades
- K-4 in Fall 2010 are invited
- No entrance test required
- All FSD schools are demographic cross-sections,
and are culturally diverse. - Successful magnet schools reflect that same
diversity among their students and staff - Student Parent interest required
- Commit to the program

pay tuition? How much?There is NO tuition! The
magnet school, located at the current
Jones-Farrar building, is part of the FSD public
school system.How will students be
selected?Students enroll on a first-come,
first-served basis while adhering to a plan for a
diverse population. Enrollment opens in
January.What about students with special
needs?Just as in all other FSD schools, students
with special needs will be accommodated, and are
encouraged to attend.What type of student will
benefit from a magnet school?All of them! The
magnet school doesnt intend to create
mini-scientists or accomplished actors. The
themes each present identical curriculum in
unique ways that teach critical and analytical
thinking skills with which all students can
succeed.
