3Airway Management OBJECTIVES
- Airway Management
- Identify patients who require air way control
- List methods of manual and mechanical airway
management and how to implement them while
maintaining cervical spine immobilization. - List methods of ventilation and how to implement
them while maintaining in-line cervical spine
immobilization - Describe the techniques for initial and
subsequent assessment of the airway and
ventilation interventions on trauma patients.

9Airway Management Triage Concerns
- TRANSPORT TO A TRAUMA CENTER IF
- Respiratory rate less than ten or greater than
twenty-nine - Requires endotracheal intubation
- Requires relief of tension pneumothorax

- Evidence of respiratory distress or failure
means physiologic indicators of decreased
ventilatory function, which may include any of
the following symptoms - Stridor
- Grunting
- Retractions
- Cyanosis
- Hoarseness
