SER Y ESTAR

• Los diferentes usos.
• When do we use SER and When do we use ESTAR.

SER

• We use SER when we want to DESCRIBE something or
  SOMEBODY ( The way they normally are)
• Mi casa es grande.(My house is big)
• Mi madre es trabajadora.(My mum is hard-working)
• Mi padre es ingeniero.(My father is an
  engineer)
• Mi perro es tranquilo. (My dog is calm)

ESTAR

• We use ESTAR when we talk about something
  /somebody that is in a changeable state.
• Mi casa es grande pero HOY/ ESTA SEMANA está
  llena de gente. (but today/this week is full of
  people).
• Mi madre es trabajadora pero HOY está cansada.
• (but today she is tired).
• Mi padre es ingeniero pero AHORA/POR EL MOMENTO
  está en paro. (but now/at the moment he is
  unemployed).
• Mi perro es tranquilo pero HOY esta nervioso.
• (but today he is nervous).

Exception

• The most common one is
• Está loco (S/he is mad/crazy).
• Tú estás loco! (You are crazy/mad).
• We never say  ser loco , when its a medical
  condition we say  es un enfermo mental,
  esquizofrénico

ESTAR

• We use ESTAR to indicate location.
• Mi casa está a la derecha.(My house is on the
  right)
• El cuarto de baño está arriba.(The
  bathroom/toilet is upstairs)
• The construction  be in, on, under, between
  always with ESTAR!
• Mi casa está en Madrid y mi familia está en la
  playa.
• Mi cuaderno está EN/DENTRO DE la mochila.
• El libro de mates está DEBAJO de la mesa.
• Estoy ENTRE la espada y la pared!

• WE use ESTAR for the construction   BE ING
  form 
• Estoy comiendo!
• Me estoy duchando.
• Ellos están viendo la tele.
• Mi madre está cocinando albóndigas con tomate.
