Attendance is Compulsory!

• Failure to meet 80 attendance
• DEBARRED from the Sessional Examinations
• Deemed to have FAILED the module
• Beware Repeaters
• Debarment gt Fail at 2nd attempt gt Dismissal
• Debarment for 3 or more modules
• DISMISSAL from course

Absence From Classes

• ALL absences, including occasions covered by MCs,
  are considered eligible for debarment!
• Need to make up class
• You should attempt to make up missed classes at
  other classes during the week, where possible,
  even if you are covered by MCs
• Making up classes are allowed only as an
  exception for unavoidable reasons
• Not a route to unofficially or habitually change
  module groups

One Only Semestral Exam

• Must pass one only semestral exam
• Consistent work throughout semester needed
• Class attendance important to facilitate
  consistent learning
• No special test allowed!
• Unless on very exceptional strong reasons, e.g.
  hospitalisation, accident, death of immediate
  family members

Absence From Semestral Exam

• F Grade
• You will be given an "F" GRADE for that module
• Dismissal
• You will be DISMISSED if credit units (cu)
  obtained is less than 30 for all modules taken
  in the semester
• IS modules normally 2 cu each
• Core disciplinary modules normally 4 cu each
• Example 5 core modules and 2 IS modules
• (5 core modules X 4 cu) (2 IS modules X 2 cu)
• 20 cu 4 cu
• 24 cu
• 30 of 24 cu 7.2 cu
• Dismissal if less than 7.2 cu for all modules
  taken

Absence From Semestral Exam

• Absence for whole exam
• Absence throughout the whole examination without
  permission will result in DISMISSAL
• BEWARE particularly if you have only one
  examinable module
• Reasons for Absence
• Must submit documentary evidence stating
  reason(s) for any absence(s) from the semestral
  examination
• To the Director of BA through BA General Office
  (Blk 72 Level 9)
• Within 48 hours

Absence From Semestral Exam

• Absence due to illness
• Must submit a valid MC (from the Government
  doctor or registered medical practitioners)
  within 48 hours
• If not, MC would not be considered
• Absence due to hospitalization
• Must submit valid hospitalization MC within 48
  hours after discharge from hospital
• Please inform the School of your admission to
  hospital as soon as possible.

Absence From Semestral Exam

• Absence due to any emergency or other unavoidable
  circumstances
• Must submit within 48 hours
• a letter with all the relevant circumstances
  which prevented his attendance and
• documentary evidence in support of the
  explanation in the letter

Absence From Semestral Exam

• Special Test On Appeal
• Director may allow a special test on appeal only
  on serious medical or other compassionate grounds
• Your responsibility as student
• Refer to Student Intranet for your Individualised
  Exam Timetable
• Check Examination Timetable carefully to avoid
  misreading of date and time of exams

Absence From Tests Other Assessments

• No re-test or regrossing of exam marks allowed
• Unless on very exceptional and strong reasons,
  e.g. MC, hospitalisation, accident, death of
  immediate family members
• Must submit a letter of appeal within 48 hours
• If appeal allowed
• Continuous Assessment Modules Retest
• Examinable Modules Regrossing of exam marks

For ACC Students Only

• ACC students are not eligible for APT 6 mth
  attachment if they are
• behind in 1 or more modules
• or advisor do not recommend because of poor
  attitude
• Will have to take on the following additional 5
  modules in the final semester of study
