Title: The Presence of God

1
The Presence of God
  • He is Here

2
The early church experiences God
  • Everyone kept feeling a sense of awe and many
wonders and signs were taking place through the
    apostles.
  • And all those who had believed were together and
had all things in common and they began selling
their property and possessions and were sharing
them with all, as anyone might have need.

3
  • Day by day continuing with one mind in the
temple, and breaking bread from house to house,
they were taking their meals together with
gladness and sincerity of heart, praising God
and having favor with all the people.
  • And the Lord was adding to their number day by
day those who were being saved.
  • Acts 243-47 NASU

4
God is Omnipresent
  • Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I
flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven,
You are there If I make my bed in Sheol, behold,
    You are there.
  • If I take the wings of the dawn, If I dwell in
the remotest part of the sea, even there Your
hand will lead me, and Your right hand will lay
    hold of me.
  • If I say, "Surely the darkness will overwhelm me,
and the light around me will be night," even the
darkness is not dark to You, and the night is as
bright as the day. Darkness and light are alike
    to You.
  • Psalms 1397-12 NASU King David

5
Sometimes He invades the Natural
  • The chief priests and Pharisees had given Judas a
squad of soldiers and police to accompany him.
Now with blazing torches, lanterns, and weapons
they arrived at the olive grove. Jesus fully
realized all that was going to happen to him.
Stepping forward to meet them he asked, "Whom are
you looking for? "Jesus of Nazareth," they
    replied.
  • "I am he," Jesus said. And as he said it, they
all fell backwards to the ground!
  • John 183-6 TLB

6
Saul Encounters Gods Presence
  • Now Saul, still breathing threats and murder
against the disciples of the Lord, went to the
high priest, and asked for letters from him to
the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found
any belonging to the Way, both men and women, he
might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

7
  • As he was traveling, it happened that he was
approaching Damascus, and suddenly a light from
heaven flashed around him and he fell to the
ground and heard a voice saying to him, "Saul,
Saul, why are you persecuting Me?"
  • And he said, "Who are You, Lord?" And He said, "I
am Jesus whom you are persecuting,
  • Acts 91-5 NASU

8
John Sees the Lord
  • Revelation 112-17 NASU
  • Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking
with me. And having turned I saw one like a son
of man, clothed in a robe reaching to the feet,
and girded across His chest with a golden sash.
  • His head and His hair were white like white wool,
like snow and His eyes were like a flame of
    fire.
  • His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has
been made to glow in a furnace, and His voice was
like the sound of many waters.

9
When I Saw Him
  • In His right hand He held seven stars, and out of
His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword and His
face was like the sun shining in its strength.
  • When I saw Him, I fell at His feet like a dead
    man.
  • And He placed His right hand on me, saying, " Do
    not be afraid

10
His Glory Fills the Temple
  • It happened that when the priests came from the
holy place, the cloud filled the house of the
LORD, so that the priests could not stand to
minister because of the cloud, for the glory of
the LORD filled the house of the LORD.
  • 1 Kings 810-11 NASU

11
  • 2 Chronicles 71-3 NASU
  • Now when Solomon had finished praying, fire came
down from heaven and consumed the burnt offering
and the sacrifices, and the glory of the LORD
    filled the house.
  • The priests could not enter into the house of the
LORD because the glory of the LORD filled the
    LORD'S house.

12
  • All the sons of Israel, seeing the fire come down
and the glory of the LORD upon the house, bowed
down on the pavement with their faces to the
ground, and they worshiped and gave praise to the
    LORD, saying,
  • " Truly He is good, truly His lovingkindness is
    everlasting."

13
Sing a new song to Him
  • He put anew song in my mouth, a song of praise to
our God many will see and fear and will trust in
    the LORD.
  • Psalms 403 NASU

14
Spiritual Songs
  • And do not get drunk with wine, for that is
dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit,
speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and
spiritual songs, singing and making melody with
your heart to the Lord always giving thanks for
all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ
to God, even the Father and be subject to one
another in the fear of Christ.
  • Ephesians 518-21 NASU

15
Sing in the Spirit
  • For if I pray in a language I don't understand,
my spirit is praying, but I don't know what I am
saying. Well, then, what shall I do? I will do
    both.
  • I will pray in unknown tongues and also in
ordinary language that everyone understands. I
will sing in unknown tongues and also in ordinary
language so that I can understand the praise I am
    giving
  • 1 Corinthians 1414-16 TLB

16
Are You Too Busy?
  • Luke 1038-42
  • Now as they were traveling along, He entered a
village and a woman named Martha welcomed Him
into her home. She had a sister called Mary, who
was seated at the Lord's feet, listening to His
    word.
  • But Martha was distracted with all her
preparations and she came up to Him and said,
"Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me
to do all the serving alone? Then tell her to
    help me."

17
One Thing
  • But the Lord answered and said to her,
  • "Martha, Martha, you are worried and bothered
about so many things but only one thing is
necessary, for Mary has chosen the good part,
which shall not be taken away from her."

18
Just Do It!
  • Mark 1228-32 NASU
  • One of the scribes came and heard them arguing,
and recognizing that He had answered them well,
asked Him, "What commandment is the foremost of
    all?" Jesus answered,
  • "The foremost is, 'HEAR, O ISRAEL! THE LORD OUR
GOD IS ONE LORD AND YOU SHALL LOVE THE LORD
YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART, AND WITH ALL YOUR
SOUL, AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND, AND WITH ALL YOUR
    STRENGTH.'

19
  • "The second is this, 'YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR
NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.' There is no other
    commandment greater than these."
