Objectives

• To facilitate and stimulate the development of
  local self-financing waste minimisation
  partnerships
• To demonstrate the financial and environmental
  benefits of waste minimisation
• To produce local case studies
• To encourage further local waste minimisation
  activity

• Core funding and steering group
• Local funding and management
• Consultancy support
• Club meetings
• National and local dissemination

Format

• Business Wins covers five key phases comprising
• Audits Envirowise/Carbon Trust audits
• Workshops - how to conduct a waste minimisation
  audit
• On-site help - during the implementation phase
• Club meetings - are held at least twice a year
• Monitoring - is undertaken throughout the project
• Dissemination - through case studies,
  newsletters, a seminar and a Final Report on the
  project

• Launched May 2002
• 6 Local groups (58 businesses)
• - North East (complete)
• - Shetland (complete)
• - Orkney (complete)
• - Western Isles (complete)
• - Highlands (Phase 1 completed, Phase 2 Lochaber
  underway)
