Guide Design

• GDC has been hired as the service provider to
  come up with the guide design framework
• A first iteration through the project progression
  plan is necessary to work through how we think
  the guide should work, what type of data we think
  we have, and how we want components presented in
  order that we can come up with a reasonable
  framework for guide design that can be taken to
  the technical advisory committee

Guide Design

• The first iteration would be very coarse and
  could be populated with dummy data just to get an
  idea of how the design would work
• A number of meetings have already occurred to
  begin putting together a design framework
• A workshop is scheduled for March 18th in which
  we will present the guide design to the TAC for
  comments and suggestions

Population of Guide Components

• Once we have a framework for guide design we can
  begin the process of hiring appropriate service
  providers to populate the necessary components of
  the guide
• The second iteration would still be coarse, but
  populated with readily available real world data
• The purpose of the second iteration is to have a
  good first approximation of the various project
  components that the group can take to the TAC in
  order to get critical review and redesign
  feedback

Editing and Integration

• It will be necessary to integrate various guide
  components into one cohesive and flowing document
  prior to production and publishing
• It is our goal to have gone through the second
  iteration in which we have gotten feedback from
  the TAC on editing and integration and have a
  draft document ready for production and
  publishing by September 2004

Production and Publishing

• A digital first draft of the guide would be
  available for laser jet printing by October 2004
• The first draft will still be relatively coarse
  in nature as it will be based on a combination of
  expert opinion and readily available literature
  and data

3rd Iteration

• The third iteration through the project
  progression structure would aim to strengthen the
  guide by filling data gaps through targetted
  research or detailed data analysis
• Timelines for completion of a 3rd iteration would
  be dependent on level of resolution desired and
  availability of future funding
