Title: Line Spectra
1Line Spectra Absorption Spectrum
2Line Spectra Absorption Spectrum
Produced when a continuous spectrum of light is
incident upon a gas. Electrons in the gas will
jump to a higher energy orbit by absorbing
specific energy (or specific wavelength) photons
from the incident beam. In the visible window,
when light emerging from the gas is examined with
a spectroscope, the continuous spectrum, minus
the wavelengths absorbed by the atoms, will be
observed.
