Title: SilverPlatter Record Selection and Printing
1SilverPlatter Record Selection and Printing
2For this demonstration I will be using ERIC, a
SilverPlatter database. Searching and printing
is similar on all SilverPlatter databases.
3I am writing a paper on test anxiety and
achievement. Below is my original search phrase.
4I now have a set of 365 entries. Since this is
too many to look through, I will narrow this
topic.
5I will narrowed my original search (search 1) to
include the word reading as I hypothesize that
a students reading ability may impact their test
taking.
6I now have a more manageable size set of 51
entries to look through. How do I select just
the entries I want?
7First, I will eliminate the purple search window
by clicking on the red down arrow at the top left
of the search results window. This will give me
more room to look at entries.
8Now I can go through the entries and select the
ones I want. I can do this by clicking in the
box next to the entry number for each entry I
want.
9I have decided I want entries 1, 5, 10 and 11. I
will then decide whether I want to print my
entries or email my entries to myself. I will
then select the appropriate icon in the upper
right corner of the search results screen.
10I have decided to print my selected set so I have
chosen the printer icon. I can now choose
which records I want to print and which fields in
those records I would like to print. I can also
choose to print the history of my search (what I
typed in to get these records).
11If I do nothing at this point, the default is to
print the records I have selected, the fields
which were displayed to me on the screen, and the
search history.
12When I have made any changes I wish in the print
window, I can then click on Print at the top of
the print window and my selected entries will
print out.
13If I had wanted to send these entries to my email
address, I would select the email icon. I
would have the same options regarding the
records, the fields, and the search history as I
did in the print window. I just need to type in
my email address and click on Send Mail.
14The disk option to download entries to a disk
is not available on Rod Library computers at this
time. You will need to choose either to print or
email your selected entries.

and printing or emailing entries from
SilverPlatter, please stop at the Reference Desk.
We will be happy to help you.
