4Evaluation
Our design solves the problem of vehicles being
trapped inside the Mont Blanc tunnel. The scale
model is 100 times smaller that the actual
machine and is called The Fordy Mobile. The
main structure consists of an engine room
containing technology required to control the
machine, collect information from the camera and
run the transmitter sending electrical waves to
control the machine from the remote control. On
top of the engine is one camera, one transmitter
and one lever. The camera is used to view the
scenery around the machine in a 360 motion. The
transmitter is used to pick up electrical signals
sent from the remote control to control the
machine. The lever has hydraulics, one hook and
one cutter head. The hydraulics move the lever up
and down, the hook is used to pick up damaged
vehicles and the head to use to clear rocks from
the machines path. ?
5Evaluation
A levelling plate and shovel is changeable
towards the bottom of the machine is in and (e.g.
levelling plate for moving rocks or shovelling
for removing rubble). Tire tracks are used for
travelling around with one on either side. The
engine room is therefore suspended in mid-air
above the tracks. There is a conveyer belt to
carry rocks. A safety cord is attached to the
rear of the machine to pull/tow undamaged cars
out of the tunnel. To conclude, a remote control
controls everything. The remote includes, an on
and off switch, a lever to control the cutter
head, hook and transport, a switch to swap
between cutter head, hook and transport and a
screen for seeing the footage picked up from the
camera.
