- Social networks are communities of people who
share interests and activities, or who are
interested in exploring the interests and
activities of others - Most social networks are primarily web based and
provide a collection of ways for users to
interact - commenting on peoples profiles
- sending them messages
- photo and video sharing
- file sharing
- blogging
- conversations in communities and so on

- Nonprofits are growing faster than the rest of
the U.S. economy - U.S. GNP increased by 35 from 1995-2005 revenue
of nonprofits grew by nearly 55 and total assets
by 77 - Nonprofits grew in number by more than 27 in the
period, from 1.1M to 1.4M - Contributed more than 666B to the economy
- Received 1T in revenue in 2006, a 5 increase
from 2005 - Employed 12.9 million people. Nonprofit groups
pay 8.1 of the nations wages and employ 9.7 of

- Social networks
- build public awareness to mission and cause
- help nonprofits expand their support base
- make it easier to keep in touch with contacts,

community and finding a channel for their energy
