John Adams (October 30, 1735 July 4, 1826) was
a leading Founding Father of the United States
and American politician who served as the first
Vice President of the United States (17891797),
and the second President of the United States
(17971801).

John Adams was born the eldest of three brothers
on October 30, 1735 in Braintree, Massachusetts.
His birthplace is now part of Adams National
Historical Park.

Adams graduated from Harvard College in 1755 and,
for a time, taught school in Worcester and
studied law in the office of James Putnam.

Adams was a major sponsor of the American
Revolution in Massachusetts, and a key diplomat
in the 1770s.
