Title: Outer Tracker Distribution Boxes

1
Outer Tracker Distribution Boxes
  • Ad Berkien
  • Tom Sluijk
  • Albert Zwart

2
Outer Tracker
  • 3 OT Stations T1,T2,T3
  • Each OT Station consists of
  • 4 planes XUVX

3
Station Frames
  • Each station consists of 4 movable units
(curtains), each containing two layers (X/U or
    V/X), so
  • 2 x 7 F Module ? 28 FE boxes
  • 2 x 2 S1 Modules ? 4 FE boxes
  • 2 x S2 Modules ? 2 FE boxes
  • 2 x S3 Modules ? 2 FE boxes

Overview of Services
  • Summary of services
  • HV
  • LV
  • Optical fibers (data)
  • TFC (fast control)
  • ECS (slow control)

High Voltage
  • High voltage Power Supplies and HV patch panel in
    the Counting Room.
  • Cables with 48 HV channels and interlock signals
to the on-detector HV Distribution Boxes.
  • Front End Modules are subdivided in 4 parts of 32
straws with separate connections via the HV
Distribution Boxes up to the HV patch panel in
    the Counting Room.
  • HV Distribution Box branches off three
48-channels cables into 144 SHV connectors.

6
High Voltage System
7
Low Voltage
  • One complete Front End Box draws 2.6 A from the
positive (5,3V) supply and 0.9 A from the
    negative (-5,3V) supply (typical).
  • LV Distribution Box has 40 fused taps to to
accommodate 36 Front End Boxes and 3 Control
    boxes (1 spare).
  • The number of incoming cables are dependent on
the selected power supplies, no power supplies in
    parallel.
  • Total power for one LV Distribution Box
  • 130A _at_ 5,3V
  • 45A _at_ -5,3V

Optical Fiber Connections
  • The Optical Receiver Card of the L1 Board accepts
    12-fiber ribbon cables and connectors.
  • A patch facility in the Counting Room for 56
fiber ribbon cables 54 used and 2 spares.
  • The on-detector Fiber Distribution Box branches
off the four 12-fiber ribbon cables into 48 SMA
    connectors 12 spares
  • The TFC and ECS signals also use this type of
    fiber ribbon cable.
  • The off detector Fiber Patch Panel branches off
24 TTC ST type connectors (TFC) and 24 SPECS LC
    type connectors (ECS).

Signals
To Front-End Box
From Front-End Box
  • The TFC signals
  • Bx Clock
  • L0
  • L0 reset
  • BxCnt reset
  • ECnt reset
  • Testpulse odd
  • Testpulse even
  • PU reset
  • The Monitor signals
  • 3V
  • -3V
  • 2,5V
  • Temperature
  • The ECS signals
  • I2Cdata
  • I2Cclock

Control Boxes
  • The Control Box function is subdivided into one
Master Control Box and two Slave Control Boxes.
  • The Master Control Box contains the TTCrx and the
    SPECS Slave, it supplies
  • The TFC signals and JTAG ports for the Slave
    Control Boxes.
  • The I2C ports, directly connected to the Front
    end Boxes.
  • The Slave Control Box contains
  • LVDS drivers for the TFC signals.
  • ADCs for the monitor signals.
  • The TFC/monitor connections from Slave Control
Box to the Front End Boxes and the TFC
connections from Master to Slave Control box is
proposed to be made with 30 pin Metral connectors
and 14 twisted pair shielded cable.
  • JTAG connector ? RJ45
  • I2C connector ? RJ11
