Title: MICROMOUSE EE396 Spring 2005

1
MICROMOUSEEE396Spring 2005
  • Team Name Lost Café 2005

2
INTRODUCTION OF THE TEAM
  • Members
  • Software
  • Arthur Phanphengdy
  • Jackson Ng
  • Hardware
  • Quincy Quach
  • Kang Lu

3
OVERVIEW OF THE PROJECT
  • Make a micromouse that is able to find the center
of a maze on its own
  • Use side sensors
  • Go to regionals and WIN!!!

4
Last Year (EE296)
  • Used only 3 Top-Down Sensors
  • Right wall hugger
  • No mapping or solving code
  • Just let it run in the maze
  • Been able to move 30 cells w/o crashing
  • Self-aligning Mouse
  • Implemented different speeds (3 gears)
  • VERY SIMPLE MOUSE

5
Movie Clips of Previous Mouse

GENERAL DISCUSSION OF APPROACH (HARDWARE)
  • Re-design and build the mouse itself . (Chassis,
    wheels, motor, sensors, etc.)
  • Use Copper Boards and Etchant
  • Develop CIRCAD skills
  • Simplify Circuit Design
  • Reduce Soldering Time
  • Minimize Size of Mouse

8
General Discussion of Approach (Software)
  • Get Analog Sensors working with A/D Converter and
    rabbit.
  • Implement algorithm for finding center, mapping,
    and solving
  • Find shortest path to center
  • Develop proper alignment program
  • Include S-turns and 45s

9
POTENTIAL PROBLEMS (Hardware)
  • Need to learn how to use CIRCAD
  • Errors on circuit design
  • Difficulty in precise measurements on side sensor
    placements and chassis design
  • Etchant problems
  • Limited supplies
  • Press-n-Peel, Etchant Solution, PCBs

10
POTENTIAL PROBLEMS (Software)
  • Implementing algorithm for finding center,
    mapping, and solving
  • Not be able to figure out the right C coding
  • Using Arrays
  • Debugging code
  • Robustness
  • Not have enough time to finish

11
WHAT WE EXPECT TO LEARN
  • Build upon skills ascertained in 296
  • Engineering process of solving problems
  • Concepts taught apply in real-life problems
  • Develop teamwork skills.
  • Develop time management skill
  • Develop troubleshooting skills

12
DELIVERABLE GOALS
  • Make a micromouse that
  • Small and Fast
  • Find center
  • Map and Flood entire maze
  • Solve for the shortest path
  • S-turns and 45s
  • Go regionals
