2What is a letter of application?
- Its a cover letter that you have to send with
your resume when you are applying for a job. - Its a marketing letter to help you tell a
potential employer what skills you have for a job
(in a shortened form).
3Structure of a letter of applicationAdvertised
Position
- Paragraph 1
- Give name of position you are applying for and
where and when you saw it advertised - Paragraph 2
- An outline of your most recent work experience,
skills and recent studies
4Paragraph 3
- State why you are applying for the position eg to
get work experience or exposure to that business
or industry - Also indicate if getting the job is part of your
short or long term goal
5Paragraph 4
- State that the resume (and selection criteria
where requested) is attached - State that any other information specifically
asked for eg references or examination results,
are attached
6Paragraph 5
- Make a request to get an interview
- State how and when you can be contacted for the
interview - Thank the potential employer for the time in
considering your application for the job
