Rocks are classified according to how they are
formed

• Igneous
• Sedimentary
• Metamorphic

Igneous Rocks

• Igneous rocks are formed when lava or magma cools
  or crystallize into a hard rock.

Examples of Igneous Rocks

• Obsidian
• Basalt
• Granite
• Pumice
• Rhyolite

Sedimentary Rocks

• Sedimentary rocks are formed when sediments are
  compacted and cemented together into a hard rock.

Sediments

• Sediments are small bits of rocks that are formed
  when existing rocks are exposed to the effects of
  weathering, such as wind, rain, waves, ice, and
  water.

Rock Cycle

• All existing rocks are constantly changing from
  one type of rock into another. Each type of rock
  can become another type of rock if the right
  process occurs.
