9Epidemiologic Situation Planned Activities
- After more than 3 months of last confirmed polio
case, a polio case has been reported from Hubeish
district of Ibb province. - The child is 25 months old with 3 valid OPV
doses, with onset of paralysis on 02/02/2006. - The virus has been sent to CDC for genomic
sequencing. - A team of epidemiologists from WHO/EMRO, WR
office Yemen, and national EPI has been fielded
to make comprehensive investigation and plan for
immunization response (a campaign is planned for
2nd April). - His Excellency Minister of Health, who is
currently on visit to EMRO has been briefed about
the situation and he has assured his full support
and commitment to polio eradication.
