• Dramatic Irony- situation in which something is
  known by the reader or audience but unknown to
  the characters.
• Tragedy- work of literature that tells the story
  of the fall of a person of high status.

Tragic Hero

• A tragic hero is the main character in a tragedy
  who is usually in an exalted, respected position
  when the story begins.
• A tragic flaw is an error in the characters
  judgment or personality (personal weakness) that
  contributes to the downfall of that character in
  a tragedy.
• By the end of the story, the tragic
  hero has usually gained wisdom
  and strength even though defeat
  is the end result.
