• Materials
• Items for beak (tweezers, toothpick, straw, and
  spoon)
• Items for food (marshmallows, paper, pennies,
  marbles)
• Cups for stomachs
• Chart paper
• Markers

Step-by-Step Procedure

• Inform the students about bird beaks.
• Read Unbeatable Beaks to the students if
  possible.
• Have students in groups of 4.
• Lay all of the food out on the floor.
• Give each student in the group a mouth.
• Let the student pick up one of the items with
  their mouth.
• After they have placed their food in the
  stomach have them chart their results.
• After all students have done the experiment, look
  at the results as a group.
• Wrap up any loose ends and answer any questions
  that the students may have.
