passed today, Did you smile at them, wave or
just say, Hey? Were they black or brown, short
or tall? Were they smiling back in the Annex
hall? Were they students or faculty, workers of
lay? Were they professionals? Did they say?Were
they walking like you or wheeling a chair? Did
you hold open the door? Did you give it a
care?Did they talk to you? What language did
they speak? Were they loud and boisterous or shy
and meek?

Did you make the effort? Open your mouth really
wide? Or did you drop your head low? Did you wish
you could hide? Were you in a hurry to get to
your bus or lot? Were you strolling more slowly?
Does it matter or not? Did you see Capt. Turner
from Campus Police? Dressed in all blue with a
ring full of keys? Did you see Henrietta, the
housekeeper from Old Red? Was she humming a tune
that played in her head? Did you see the guy
from parking, his name is Mike? You couldnt have
missed him, the one on the bike. What about
Mathen Samuel? Hes from India, you see. Hes a
pillar in the community, our city and
U.T.M.B. Did you ride in the elevator with Manuel
from FOAM? His smile alone would make you feel at
home. The people that you passed today, Did you
smile at them, wave or just say, Hey?
