Observations
  • 2.2 overall increase in undergraduate enrollment
for schools that provided 2004 and 2005 data
  • 8.9 overall increase in graduate enrollment for
schools that provided 2004 and 2005 data
  • Maybe slightly skewed by combined department
    reporting

15
Simple Average Charts
  • These charts compare the average enrollments for
each year based on the number of universities
    that responded.
  • This year several more institutions have
responded which may have skewed the undergraduate
data slightly downward and the graduate data
slightly upward but provides a truer picture of
actual enrollment averages (only 36 responses
    last year)

Observations
  • Undergraduate enrollment peaked in 2003 and is
now in a slightly downward trend
  • Graduate enrollments continue to increase based
on historical averages, peak will occur in the
    2006-2008 timeframe
  • Increase in doctoral candidates skewed by new
reporting from several large programs (Stanford,
    MIT, Michigan, UC Davis, etc.)
  • Female minority enrollments continue to be
    between 16-19 of total

22
Improvements for next year
  • Number of classes offered?
  • Full-time vs. Part-time Faculty?
  • Co-Op Programs?
  • Average program length?
  • How to handle reporting from joint departments
    (Mechanical and Aerospace, etc.)?
  • Split out 4th year and 5th year seniors?
  • Posting to the NIA Website Intent is to make
data publicly available unless anyone objects
  • What else would ADCA like to see?
