Getting Started

• Devise a system for picking your reporters and
  editors. You may wish to do this alphabetically
  with each child rotating jobs.

• Spend some time with your class exploring their
  community newspaper and the jobs that go with it.

• Explore the jobs of reporter and editor. Explain
  what each means.

The Reporter

• A reporters job is to gather the news.
• This could be news from your classroom, the
  school, or in your community

The Editor

• The editors job is to check the story from the
  reporter.
• Check for errors in the story.
• Check the facts of the story.

Printing Your Story

• Printing can be done by student depending upon
  your grade level or can be done by a helping
  adult.

• Assign three or four reporters to find the
  stories.

• Have the editor and the teacher read the stories
  and decide if they are ready to print.
