Title: An integrated network on thermal biomass conversion for power, heat and transport fuels ThermalNet

1
An integrated network on thermal biomass
conversion for power, heat and transport fuels
ThermalNet
  • EIE 2003-159
  • January 2005 December 2007
  • Project supported by
  • Intelligent Energy Europe Programme of the
    European Community
  • and IEA Bioenergy

2
Aims
  • The aim is support of more effective
    implementation of thermal biomass conversion
    technologies by addressing technical,
non-technical and commercialisation issues of the
    whole bioenergy chain,
  • The matrix of 3 technologies and 11 tasks provide
a high level of interaction between common
    issues, by establishing a comprehensive
trans-European forum that covers all the issues
necessary to establish a successful European
    thermal bio-energy industry.
  • The forum will disseminate its activities and
outputs through the medium of technology focussed
    newsletters, websites, reports and conference
    proceedings.

3
ThermalNet activities
ThermalNet is an integrated cluster of three
Networks on thermal processing of biomass
combustion (CombNet), gasification (GasNet) and
pyrolysis (PyNe),
PyNe Pyrolysis
GasNet Gasification
CombNet Combustion

Tasks

ThermalNet
PyNe
GasNet
CombNet
6
Expected results
  • Establishment of a comprehensive trans-European
forum on thermal biomass conversion that covers
all the issues needed to establish a successful
    European thermal bio-energy industry.
  • Result dissemination by newsletter, dedicated
websites, progress and technical reports, minutes
    of meetings.
  • Every effort will be made to ensure that the
emerging bioenergy industry sector can contribute
to and benefit from the Network.
