• This concludes the Year 9 teaching

• Emphasis on independent learning as a GCSE skill
• Present various extracts from autobiographies.
  Pupils to categorise a list of autobiographies
  into
• authors, pop stars, sports personalities etc
• Hand out and discuss the grade criteria in
  pupil-friendly language for analyse/review/comment
  task
• Set independent learning task to read an
  autobiography of their choice in three weeks.

Lessons Five and Six Assessment for Learning

• Focus on Speaking and Listening skills and their
  increased weighting on the GCSE course
• Pupils have prepared a two-minute PowerPoint
  presentation on their autobiography
• Peers evaluate the content using their
  guidance-grid they also set a target for
  improvement
• Pupils feed back targets to speaker, who uses
  this as a guide to their written task

• Pupils were directed to write their own
  autobiographies and introduced to the
  inform/explain/describe triplet at GCSE level
• This led onto introducing the semi-autobiographica
  l Literature Exam Prose text, Anita and Me by
  Meera Syal
