The major services covered by Individual Budgets
are delivered by Local Government 13 pilot
sites were chosen to represent differences in
size, region, level of performance

Government is looking for evidence
  • A Model of Individual Budgets that can be rolled
    out nationally
  • To demonstrate whether the IB approach can
    deliver higher quality support within existing
    resources
  • A substantial evaluation is in place involving 3
    leading academic institutions working together.
    The aim is for one of the first randomised
    control trials in social care

Implementation
  • Pilot sites are being supported by the Care
    Services Improvement Partnership.
  • The Self Directed Support Network - a White
    Paper commitment, Linking In Control, the
    Direct Payments take-up campaign and Individual
    Budgets.
  • Ensuring linkage to the Care Services Efficiency
    Delivery programme
