And So Began Our Little Journey

Day 1

• Wide dirt trail
• Thick forest
• Blue monkeys
• Overnight at Mandara Hut
• 8 Kilometres
• Altitude 2,700 metres

• Out of the forest and into the scrub
• First glimpse of Kili summit
• 11 kilometres
• Altitude 3,700 metres
• Overnight at Horombo Hut

• Acclimatization day at Horombo Hut
• Side trip to Zebra Rock
• First signs of sickness

• Onward to Kibo Hut
• Long, windy, cold hike across the saddle
• 11 kilometres
• Altitude 4,700 metres
• Reach Kibo at 4 pm and eat dinner
• Rest for 5 hours and then begin

• Descend to Park Gate
• Say Farewell porters and guides
