Rock salt is a mixture of salt and sandy
impurities. To get the useful salt we must
separate it from these impurities.

Put goggles on before starting this investigation.

Place paper on the pan of the balance and zero
it. Use a spatula to add rock salt until 5.00g is
reached.

Crush the rock salt to a powder. This will make
it easier to dissolve the salt in step 4.
