What have we learned
?
8
What works?
  • Older people appear to be more accepting of a
    discreet service
  • Able to support Older People with a range of
    needs
  • Service is able to build and develop individual
confidence and develop and maintain a range of
    skills
  • Reduce social isolation
  • Strengthens relationships between service users
    and the family
  • Enabled staff to manage a work life balance

9
What presents a challenge?
  • Shift in work force and labour markets over 20
years i.e. low unemployment and women in
employment outside of the home is presenting a
    challenge with recruitment
  • Current staff work life balanced needs have
changed over time and now seek new challenges in
    other areas of service
  • Compatibility of service users needs requires
    careful consideration
  • Managing gaps in provision e.g. sickness,
    holidays in a small service

10
What would we do differently?
  • Develop services on a tighter Locality basis
  • Develop within an Adult Placement Model to meet a
broader range of needs i.e. Overnight/Weekend
