Space Junk

• Space junk is rubbish that is orbiting (circling)
  the earth at a speed up to 25,000 miles per hour.
• It can be a satellite fragment down to a chip of
  paint.
• Currently there is about a million pieces of
  space junk orbiting the earth. However, 9,000 of
  these are smaller then a tennis ball

What Started it

• In 1957 Sputnik 1, the first satellite was
  launched in to space. Since then thousands of
  space probes, satellites and telescopes have been
  sent in to space.
• We have created masses of rubbish on earth, but
  we have also created a blanket of space junk
  around it.

My thoughts on space junk

• We have created masses of junk in outer space,
  and I think that it doesnt need to be there.
• We should do something about it by stopping now
  before it gets too bad, and tell people so they
  are informed about it and might help.
