discipline procedures)
5Understanding human behavior
- Behavior is learned
- Behavior is related to environmental factors
- Behavior can be changed and manipulated
6Students are
- Not born with bad behaviors
- Do learn better ways of behaving though teaching
and positive feedback
7 For example
Student off task
Teacher shouts at student for being lazy and
issues Cs
Student reacts and argues back
Student refuses to work at all
Teaching and learning objectives fail
8Unknownfactors not excuses
Student off task
What we dont realise
Student is kept awake during the night through
parents arguing
Teacher checks understanding of task
What we dont realise
Student is too afraid to ask for help
Student still off task but has been given the
choice to settle
Teacher issues C1 with clear reason
Student holds responsibility
9Dealing with individual student needs
What sort of problem is the student
presenting with? What is the impact of the
students problem? What factors have initiated
and maintained the problem?

plans/Cs - SEN recognising and targeting/levelled
questions - Peer Pressure pressures to conform (/-)
