• What was life like for families during World War
  2?

How did the 2 World War start?

• After World War 1 Hitler said right lets get our
• money , our jobs and build up our army and our
  army ships. So about twenty years later World War
  2 started.

What I know about Hitler.

• Hitler was a nasty cruel man. He always wanted
  his army to win and to get his own way. In the
  summer of 1940, Hitler decided to invade Britain.
  He wanted to destroy the English Channel.

About The Blitz

• London was bombed every day and night, bar one,
  for 11 weeks. One third of London was destroyed.

Evacuation

• Evacuation means leaving a place. During the
  Second World War, many children living in big
  cities and towns were moved temporarily from
  their homes to places considered safer, usually
  out in the countryside.

• It was hard for parents.

Air Raid Shelters.

• The first German attack took place in London on
  the evening of the 7th of September 1940.Within
  months, Liverpool, Birmingham, Coventry and other
  cities were hit too.

Gas Masks.

• By September 1939 30 million gas masks had been
  given out, house to house, to families. They were
  never to be needed.

• This is the child, Mickey Mouse gas mask.

Anne Frank and other Jews.

• Many children and there parents living countries
  which had been invaded by the Germans were
  imprisoned and killed because they were Jewish.

The battle of Britain.

• The first World War had to be fought mainly on
  the ground. World War two was a different kind of
  war as it was both on the ground and from the air
  .

The Blackout.

• Britain was blacked out on the 1st of September
  1939, two days before the out break of war.

What people had to take to the Countryside.

• Children had to take a packed lunch for on the
  train, PJs, Clean clothes, a teddy, a picture ,
  soap and a toothbrush and a suitcase to put it
  all in.

All about Rationing.

• Every man, woman and child was given a ration
  book for food and had to register with a grocery
  store. The grocery store was only given enough
  food for the people on their list. When someone
  bought rationed food, the grocer stuck a sticker
  in his or her ration book to show that that
  week's ration had been purchased.
