• Encourage and develop effective working
  relationships between different agencies
• Develop local inter-agency policies procedures
  to protect children
• Audit and evaluate how well local services work
• Raise awareness of need to safeguard children
• Undertake serious case reviews

• Protect life and prevent crime
• Investigate criminal offences against children

Probation Service

• Supervise offenders in order to reduce offending
  and protect the public
• With the police other agencies, assess and
  manage the risk posed to children by known and
  suspected offenders

Youth Offending Team

• Co-ordinate youth justice services

• Assist local authorities in assessment of
  children in need or at risk of harm
• Contribute to management of risk posed to
  children by dangerous offenders

• Safeguard and promote the welfare of children who
  are in need
• Make enquiries if they suspect a child is
  suffering or likely to suffer significant harm

• Promote childrens health and development by
  ensuring appropriate care and support
• Be alert to signs and symptoms of abuse
• Refer concerns to appropriate agency
• Contribute to child protection enquiries,
  conferences and plans
